WorldJambo.Org is the World Scout Jamboree community on the Internet. The site provides information for maintaining World Scout Jamboree contacts and making new jamboree friends around the globe. In 2007 over 40,000 scouts from almost every country attended the World Scout Jamboree. The jamboree was held at Hylands Park south west of Chelmsford, England. The next World Scout Jamboree will be held in 2011 at Rinkaby, in the southern part of Sweden close to Kristianstad.

Vision  For  Scouting

WorldJambo.Org was launched on August 1, 2007 at 08:00 England local time. This date and time marked the 100th anniversary of scouting. A special Sunrise Ceremony celebrated this historical event at the 2007 World Jamboree on Brownsea Island. In 1907 Baden-Powell (B-P) held an experimental camp at Brownsea for 20 boys from a wide variety of social and economic backgrounds to test their character and citizenship - the world scout movement had begun!

Activities during the first Brownsea Camp focused on learning new skills and then reinforcing them later in their training with educational games. B-P often described scouting as "a game with a purpose." In the evenings at the first scout camp, B-P told stories to the participants about his earlier adventures in the African continent. These campfire stories often became some of the boy's fondest memories of their overall 1907 Brownsea camping experience. (Brownsea2007.Org)

1. Scouting is entering its second century as an influential, value-based educational Movement focused on achieving its mission, involving young people working together to develop their full potential, supported by adults who are willing and able to carry out their educational role.

2. Scouting world-wide is attracting and retaining more and more young people (especially adolescents) of both genders and coming from broader segments of society.

3. Scouting is attractive to adults, women and men, in all cultures - a Movement through which they can make a significant contribution to society by working with young people.

4. Scouting is a dynamic, innovative Movement with adequate resources, simple structures and democratic decision making processes where organization, management and communication are effective at all levels. (Scout.Org)
